Team Rocks is designed to take young climbers to the next level mentally and physically in the sport. Climbers dig deeper into perfecting technique and developing their conditioning. Their self confidence grows as does their passion for the sport.
CR has three levels of teams and each accepts students on an invite-only basis. Pre-Teams A and B are for climbers who are not quite ready for the rigor of team but are serious about developing their technique and skill. Climbers in this group are encouraged to consider Team as a goal and practice sessions are by design more demanding than classes.
Team is demanding, yet rewarding. Not all members move up from Pre-Team, although many do. If a climber new to the CR program is interested in joining Team, we will hold a try-out for that climber. Try-outs must be scheduled by contacting us beforehand.
Team practice twice per week for two hours each week and competes in events on the USA Climbing schedule. Weather-permitting, Team travels to Boston area climbing areas and the White Mountains of NH for outdoor climbing instruction.
Pre-Team A is for young climbers that can climb a 5.7 grade or higher and have at least top rope belaying skill.
Enrollment is per month and is by invitation only. Pre-Team A meets once per week.
While Pre-Team kids typically do not compete that option is available for those who are interested. Climbers in Pre-Team can transfer to Team, with coaches' approval, when they are ready.
Pre-Team B is for climbers who can climb a 5.8 grade or higher and have at least top rope belaying skill.
Enrollment is per month and is by invitation only. Pre-Team B meets once per week.
Pre-Team B climbers compete in the same events as Team, at the individual level of their climbing. Climbers in Pre-Team can transfer to Team, with coaches' approval, when they are ready.
